Newborn Lifestyle

To me, photography isn’t fancy. It isn’t a lot of props or photoshop. It’s showing up just as you are - fearfully and wonderfully made. My oldest son has enforced this in me. It was picture day at his school and he said, “Mom, don’t make me wear anything fancy.” To which I responded that I wouldn’t because I know he’s a casual dude. I picked out a plain navy t-shirt and some soft, light blue linen shorts from Target. The shorts weren’t his beloved gym shorts or cotton shorts and the shirt wasn’t a colorful character graphic tee, so he protested that they were too fancy. We came to an agreement (that he would wear the shirt and shorts of course), and he was happy enough that I didn’t choose anything fancier.

As a mom and photographer, I know casual clothes represent my son the best. It is capturing him just as he is. I know that putting him in clothes that make him uncomfortable will only make for misrepresentation and a grumpy little boy. Two things I never want going into photographing him.

There is a time and a place for more formal wear, but I envisioned a casual in-home session for my boys because they are casual. As a photographer, I want to work with you on finding the perfect location, outfits, and aesthetic to accurately represent your family. If your guys are picky on outfits, i’m a pro at finding solutions that photograph well while remaining true and comfortable. If you envision full glam for your sessions, then I’m all for it! Lets go girls! It is YOUR session, and i’m here to bring your photography dreams to life.
