Nick + Hannah

As a photographer, I crave capturing memories and being outdoors year round! We previously lived in Washington where we spent a majority of our time outdoors because the weather is mild and the scenery is… heaven on earth. I spent some time searching around Northern Alabama for the perfect backdrop for Nick + Hannah’s maternity session. My standards are pretty high for outdoor beauty after living in WA, but I did a little google search and went out hiking by myself after work one day to find this serene location. I know the more time we spend here in Northern Alabama, the more hidden gems I’ll find for photography.

This is a a maternity session that had been in the works for a few months. Nick + Hannah were pregnant with baby girl, Jocie Gray. Her full name is Jocinda Gray, named after Hannah’s mom, and so sentimental. We already know this girl will be loved by SO many people. Jocie was going to be born in February, so scheduled their maternity session for January. It was chilly, but these two brought the heat! They looked amazing and their love for each other is so apparent. You can tell they are best friends and genuinely good people. These are the types of sessions dreams are made of!

How gorgeous is her hat!? Nick + Hannah eloped, and this is a hat that she wore with her dress. I am sentimental and love the idea of incorporating a piece of their big day into their maternity session as well. It was beautiful!

We switched up our location for the last outfit change to a nearby open field. I had driven past it quite a bit, and I was excited to capture some memories there. Look how gorgeous it all came together…

Being pregnant isn’t easy. Add in cold weather, thin layers, and long stretches of being outdoors. Hannah was such a kind soul and really a trooper! Days when I’m hanging out with amazing people and capturing their memories reminds me why I took this leap to follow my love for photography.
