Garrett, Kate, + Harper -

From Belly to Beautiful ONE Year Old

I had the privilege of taking Garrett and Kate’s maternity pictures in September 2020. The sunflower fields were in full bloom, and I loved every moment.

We blinked, and it was already time for Harper Rose’s ONE year session. I could’ve cried tears of joy that they reached out to me to capture their memories again. It’s such a compliment when clients come back for more sessions.

These lashes, lips, and cheeks! I had to come in closer to focus on Harper Rose. She was very interested in Daddy’s zipper!

We had planned outfits, location, date, time, and all of the details in advance, but there is always one thing we can never plan: the weather. Fall in the south is surprisingly mild for the most part, but fall in the south is also unpredictable. One day it’s sunny and 75, the next it’s rainy and 50. This is exactly how this session seemed to play out. We planned to shoot later in the day, but before it was too late in the day, trying to work with a break in the rain. It was wet and cold, but that made for the perfect excuse to snuggle in close!

Our location, featured on Volunteer Gardener, was full of fall blooms that made for the perfect backdrop! Harper loved playing with the flowers and dancing along to some of her favorite songs. She was a dream baby to photograph! Look at those eyelashes, sweet cheeks, and baby teeth! I was in baby love! She was also so snuggly with Mommy and Daddy!

I had to round out this post with one of my favorite images from this session. Harper in all of her baby sweetness captured, in this moment, to last for generations. I feel like this is a photo that her children and their children can look back on. It is current skill and sharpness with that old photography feel. An heirloom.

Thank you to Garrett, Kate, and Harper for inviting me in and choosing me to photograph these memories.
